July 11 - 12  Dear Edwina, Jr.
Luther Memorial’s “Arts in the Summer”, Drama Camp I will be presenting Dear Edwina, Jr. on Friday, July 11th and Saturday, July 12th at Luther Memorial School. Friday’s performance will be at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday’s performance will be a matinee at 2:30 p.m.   Dear Edwina Jr. is an uproariously funny musical that follows the adventures of advice giver extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple as she directs the kids in the neighborhood in production number after hilarious production number in her “Advise-A-Palooza” extravaganza. Sweet, smart and tuneful, this musical appeals to children of all ages, as Edwina doles out her advise, and then finally learns to listen to some herself! August 8-10  The Boy Friend
Richmond actors, Janine Russo Fuller and Paul Deiss, will be returning for their thirteenth year with Luther’s summer drama program. They will work with each student to blend acting, singing, and dancing into a “personal best” performance. The Boy Friend is a 1920’s musical comedy set in the French Riviera. It is a zany love story that includes catchy tunes and period dances such as the Charleston. It was also the musical that was introduced Julie Andrews to Broadway in 1954. Students will love this fast-paced romantic spoof of a 1920’s musical comedy! At the end of the four-week camp, the curtain will go up on The Boy Friend at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen.
